About KAMAKA
At KAMAKA we are passionate about advancement for women and have a focus on developing the talent, skills and leadership presence of women in business and within organisations.
There are convincing reasons to consider coaching women a special case.
Women constitute 51% of the UK population and over the last forty years more and more gifted and ambitious women are entering the workforce, acquiring professional skills and qualifications and are becoming the majority of today's talent. Despite this women still hold only 14% of directorships in business boardrooms up from 12.5% in 2010.
According to the 2011 report by Catalyst, 'companies with a strong female representation at board and top management level perform better than those without...and boards make better decisions where a range of voices, drawing on different life experiences... include women.'
The lack of women in top positions and the hemorrhaging of female talent is not only unjust but bad for society, economics and business.
Lord Davies' report on gender equality set a target of 25% women on all boards by 2015, but speaking to the Guardian in October 2011, Lord Davies, the former chief executive of Standard Chartered bank, was critical of the progress, "The female workforce has increased by more than 30% in the last 25 years to 50% of the workforce, so the state of UK boards is terrible. It's just not acceptable and not reflective of today's society. I believe business leaders realise this is about good business. Diverse teams perform better," he said.
Further, women are at least half as likely to as men to go into business for themselves. There has been a rapid increase in the number of female led business start ups. Helping women to advance and develop their skills and talents will have a greater impact on society and our economy.
At KAMAKA we believe women face specify issues in fulfilling their potential in business and offer a tailored approach to address their advancement at every level in business. We support and empower women around challenges including:
- Building confidence
- Developing leadership skills
- Work-life balance
- working from home
- Managing change
- Business influence and presence.
